Phenolic lined 55 gallon drums, ok for diesel storage?

Anyone know the pros and cons of using phenolic lined 55 gallon drums for diesel storage?

Is it better to get unlined drums?

I don't know that it would be bad, but I see absolutely no benefit. I don't think phenolic will break down when exposed to diesel. Gasoline might be another matter though.

Whats wrong with standard steel drums ?

Or one of these depending on how much fuel you wish to store.

I have 3 of these on my land and they work great.

Check Government Liquidation for an auction near you.

It looks like Phenolic is an epoxy that is chemical resistant, I am not sure how diesel would effect it.

Do you have any oil distrubution companys in your area that handle 55 Gal. drums. I get mine from that type of company here. Last time I went there they gave me 2 new drums and 1 used drum at $20 a piece.

I did not ask about the lining, they use them for motor oil.

I will give that a shot...

That's what all my drums are.....used motor or trans oil drums. Buddy of mine runs a sawmill/pallet operation and has a lot of rolling stock.....they go thru a lot of oil/fluids, and the oil company doesn't want the drums back, so they usually have several around to get rid of......I just pick them up from time to time.

Refilled and rotated fuel stock today.....400 gallons diesel, 700 gasoline now in stock.
